About StackTracker
Built by runners, for runners.
We’re a small team of hobby marathon runners based in Los Angeles. We built StackTracker because we were frustrated with how hard it was to find straightforward answers about running shoes.
The problem we were trying to solve
Between training cycles, race prep, and just staying healthy on our feet, shoe selection matters a lot. But every time one of us needed a new pair, it meant hours of cross-referencing forum threads, YouTube reviews, brand marketing pages, and Reddit rabbit holes — and still walking away unsure.
The information existed. It just wasn’t organized anywhere useful. Stack height, drop, foam type, terrain fit, pace suitability — these specs are scattered across dozens of sources in inconsistent formats, buried under ads and affiliate listicles that recommend whatever’s paying the highest commission that month.
We kept a shared spreadsheet for a while. It got out of hand. So we built StackTracker.
What StackTracker is
StackTracker is a data-driven running shoe research tool. We catalog the technical specs that actually matter to performance runners — midsole stack, heel-to-toe drop, foam composition, terrain rating, stability profile — alongside community ratings and expert reviews, all in one place.
We also track real-time pricing from retailers so you can see the best current deals on any shoe in our database. No fake “compare at” prices. No manufactured urgency. Just the lowest prices we can find, updated regularly.
Our goal is simple: give you everything you need to make a confident shoe decision in one visit, without the noise.
How we operate
Independent
Our scores and rankings aren’t paid placements. No brand pays to be featured or ranked higher. We say what we actually think.
Transparent
Some links on this site are affiliate links — we may earn a small commission if you buy through them, at no cost to you. We’re upfront about this on our Affiliate Disclosure page.
Runner-first
Every feature we build starts with the question: does this help a runner pick a better shoe? If it doesn’t, we don’t ship it.
